TYPO3 4.6 will be developed in accordance to the principles of DDD, a.k.a. Documentation-Driven Design.

The well-known reference book on the topic

As you know it is very hard to keep the documentation up to date with the new developments that enter the TYPO3 v4 Core. Although Xavier Perseguers - release manager for TYPO3 4.6 - has announced a strict feature freeze, the Documentation Team felt that this was not enough.

After much discussion we came to the conclusion that the best solution was to document new features before they were actually coded, thus following the development paradigm known as Documentation-Driven Design (DDD).

The consequence of that decision is that - as of today - all development should be stopped on TYPO3 4.6, unless you already have documented whatever you were working on. The documentation patches should be submitted to the relevant bug trackers of the various official manuals. Once the documentation is updated, you can proceed and submit the actual code patch to Gerrit.

We hope you will enjoy this new way of working. We are really looking forward to having always up to date documentation.

ну так :) или книжку Эванса не разглядели?
А так все нормально - при нынешней архитектуре пользоваться TDD или BDD затруднительно, надо хотя бы доку перед кодом написать.
